What is the Scientific Basis of FSM?

Are you a scientific skeptic? Curious about the actual scientific basis of Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)? The reality is, we are just in the infancy of a scientific understanding of FSM (the backstory is a long one; frequency medicine and electric medicine was once, in fact, mainstream, but that's a topic for a future time!).

There is profound potential and there are many research questions that are worthy of exploring (and need to be answered) in order to further validate what we see daily in a clinical setting, including:

  • What are the basic science phenomena underlying why and how FSM works?

  • What are the distinct channel A and channel B frequencies actually doing, and how can we validate them scientifically?

  • How do we quantify electrical changes at the cellular level?

  • What changes are measurable? And are there aspects of frequency specific microcurrent that we do not yet have the instruments to quantify or measure?

  • What kind of changes happen that we can visualize on an ultrasound?

  • What shifts can be detected in bloodwork?

  • Can we measure transformation with other non-invasive tools, like thermography?

  • How can we track changes using MRI? CT Scans? Radiography?

  • What are the real-time shifts that occur in the mitochondria and what can we use to measure these changes?

Let's dig in! Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) appears to act through several overlapping bioelectric and biochemical mechanisms, but many of these are still hypotheses rather than fully accepted models. Current thinking builds on broader microcurrent research plus early inflammation models and clinical work specific to FSM, suggesting possible effects on ATP production, cell signaling, inflammation, and pain processing. Here is what we know so far.
