Horses & Mindfulness
Workshop

Small Group Workshop with Horses

"The bewildered mind is like a wild horse ... We spend so much of our energy trying to satisfy and entertain this wild horse of a mind."
—Sakyong Mipham

HORSES & MINDFULNESS in BOULDER COUNTY, CO

  • Discover mindfulness through partnering with a horse, facilitated by heart-led humans who love awakening your ability to develop and deepen this connection to horses — and ultimately to yourself.

  • You'll understand the magnificence of the horse's heart field and the power of co-regulation with this electromagnetic force.

  • Centering, Horse-Guided experiences, Learning through Reflection, Community & Sharing, and Practical Tools for Life

WELCOME HOME TO YOURSELF

  • Ages 16 and older for these workshops.  Stay tuned for future workshops for youth!

LOCATION

  • This workshop takes place on the ancestral lands of the Ute, Arapaho, and Cheyenne peoples, where generations once gathered and traded.  Today, the Saint Vrain Creek winds gently through this tree-shaded farmstead, where you'll be greeted not only by the horses, but also by the chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, and even a proud peacock who all call this place home.

  • The workshop will be mostly outdoors in both sun and shade, so please dress in layers and sturdy shoes or boots. We have an indoor covered area for our lunch break.

EXCHANGE

  • Pre-registration required as we limit this intimate workshop to 8 participants

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE WORKSHOP

  • UNIQUE AS YOU ARE:  No two workshops are the same, as the herd of four horses you'll be working with each bring their own gifts, perspectives, and reflections to the experience  and so do you!  We honor the wisdom of the heart, of listening, and trust the guidance of our herd.

  • A WELCOMING SPACE:  Supportive, non-judgemental, inclusive and open to all levels of equine experience.  When we authentically connect to the heart, we realize that we have more in common than we may think.

  • ENERGY WORK:  Explore the fascinating concept of energy work and how it relates to your interactions with horses and their tremendous electromagnetic field.  Learn to harness your energy and create a harmonious environment that fosters trust and connection with these sensitive animals.

  • INTERACTIVE & GROUNDED:  Participate in hands-on sessions with our herd of four horses on very special land covered by shade trees, where you will practice mindful communication, energetic awareness, and you'll learn to observe and interpret their body language and emotions.

  • HEART-LED, EXPERT SUPPORT:  Our experienced facilitators will lead the seminar, sharing valuable insights and practical tips to help you integrate mindfulness and energy work into your daily life and horsemanship practice, far beyond the workshop.

  • PRACTICAL TOOLS:  Simple, potent practices you can take home and apply in daily life, including guided experiences, mindfulness exercises, embodiment practices, reflections, and ample time with the horses.

  • CONNECTION & INTEGRATION:  Opportunities to share, listen, and learn from others' perspectives, incorporating ways to bring your new insights into relationships and everyday life.

Who Are the Humans?

""Through their uncanny ability to ‘mirror,’ horses spark a deeper understanding of our behaviour, and inspire us to a more spiritual, mystical, and philosophical orientation to life.""

MATT CONDON

Matt teaches mindfulness and contemplative practices, often drawing from his background in Buddhist Studies, Communication, and Religious Studies. He integrates teachings on impermanence, compassion, and mindful awareness into practical, relational life.  He has his Master's in Buddhist Studies from Naropa University, where he completed a project with one of our herd members, Sargent, pictured with Matt at right. Matt weaves together a lifelong love of horses with the deep stillness of mindfulness practice. His teaching draws from personal stories, Buddhist wisdom, and the intuitive language of the horse–human bond. Through this work, Matt invites participants to discover how the relationship and connection experienced with the horse helps to awaken the mind and provide insight into the heart.

ALAYA BELMONTE

Alaya has an awesome and extensive background in energy work and holistic, embodied healing practices for people in various settings.  She has taken more trainings than could fit on this page, and suffice it to say that all her didactic work only enhances her ability to connect from the heart and facilitate empowered experiences for people around her.  Known for her warmth and wisdom, Alaya invites others into a space of presence, curiosity, and connection. Alaya's love of horses began when she was single digits old.  She took riding lessons as a young teen and dreamed of having her own horse one day.  Her dream came true 14 years ago when she met Matt and they began their life together on a small horse farm outside Boulder. Their horses have been some of their greatest teachers, and she is eager to share the wisdom that they hold.

JESSIE TIERNEY, PT, DPT, E-RYT

Jessie's equestrian experience began at age 8, when she took a park district class called "Friday Fun with Horses," and horses have been a part of her life ever since. From her early days in the show ring, including the Junior Olympics at age 13, to guiding 5-day pack trips into the Colorado backcountry, to Hayloft Yoga classes, Horseback Yoga workshops and more, Jessie asserts that her lifelong equine partnerships have taught her as much as her Vedic / spiritual studies, deep dives into the science of trauma healing and advanced trainings as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  "Horses have so much to offer us if we are willing to listen, and it is in this shift from doership into listening that we find the potency for healing and connection," she shares.  Dr. Jessie specializes in Frequency Medicine in her integrative physical therapy practice in Longmont, CO, so don't be surprised to see tuning forks or a pulsed electromagnetic field therapy device supporting both the horses and humans throughout workshops.
